Halloween falls at the end of half term this year, so Helen Stiles has rounded up some of the best spook-tacular events that will allow you to come face to face with zombies, witches and monsters…
25 - 26 OCTOBER
NOTHE OF THE LIVING DEAD
Immersive experience (minimum age 16, under 18s accompanied by an adult) where survivors battle through tunnels infested with flesh-devouring zombies. From 7pm -1am.
POOLE ZOMBIE FEST
Family-friendly day of free spook-tacular activities at Falkland Square, in the Dolphin Shopping Centre, Zombie Parade from Falkland Square at 4pm, prizes for the 'Worst Dressed' zombies.
26 OCTOBER - 3 NOVEMBER
RUSSELL-COTES SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT & WIZARDRY
Look for signs of sorcery and hunt for ingredients to cast a magic spell. Wizarding crafts sessions 10.30am/11.30am on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
26 OCTOBER - 3 NOVEMBER
HALLOWEEN FUN AT SHIRE HALL
Spooks, witches and monsters will be able to have a wickedly good time at Dorchester's Shire Hall Historic Courthouse Museum this half term, with an action packed calendar of activities including slime-making workshops, a witch's potion trail and gruesome touchy-feely guessing games. Better still, up to two children dressed in Halloween costume will get in to the museum for free with every paying adult, so it's time to brush off those broomsticks…
Larmer Tree hosts this creepy event including Storytime for Little Monsters and scary biscuit decorating.
27 - 30 OCTOBER
SPOOKY FUN AT LULWORTH CASTLE
Wander through the Spooky Basement, meet Merlin the magician, hunt for bats or make a spooky mask.
27 - 31 OCTOBER
HAIR-RAISING FUN AT MAPPERTON
Take the spine-chilling Hallowe'en Trail round the gardens, visit a spider's lair and enjoy ghoulish treats.
28 OCTOBER - 1 NOVEMBER
Low-key spooktacular fun for little witches and monsters at Farmer Palmer's near Poole including face painting, fancy dress and more.
31 OCTOBER - 2 NOVEMBER
HALLOWE'EN FAMILY FRIGHT NIGHTS
Abbotsbury Sub-Tropical Gardens are transformed by coloured lights after sunset. Fancy dress encouraged, prepare to be both 'tricked and treated!' There will be the chance to meet Twitch the Witch and get up close and personal with bugs and snakes, and you can even try to claim a treat from the witches' coven…if you dare.

DRINKS IN THE CLINK: SPELLS IN THE CELLS
A wizard evening for grown-ups at Shire Hall in Dorchester starting with a butterbeer, followed by your chance to whip up your own fiendish cocktail concoctions. For witches or wizards over 18. Dressing-up strongly encouraged!
