This prestigious award was kindly sponsored by The Dorset Growth Hub. Leading a small business is a notoriously difficult task that involves wearing many hats at once on the journey to securing a thriving operation - this category recognises the achievements of those that have mastered this balancing act.

This year's finalists are…

Claire Burnet, Chococo - Along with her husband Andy, Claire has been making fine fresh handmade chocolates since 2002, when the husband and wife team set up Chococo.

And

Keri Astill-Frew, V Dorset - V. Dorset, based in Poole, is the creation of Keri Astill-Frew, a development chef and former fine dining restaurant chef. The business is built around an ethos of local produce and sustainability, with a focus on environmental responsibility. Offering 100% meat-free street food at festivals and events as well as fine dining menus for weddings and parties, V. Dorset is the first company of its kind to operate in the county.

And

Ryan Howell, The Dorset Donut Company - Ryan Howell is the founder of The Dorset Donut Company, Dorset's only gluten-free and vegan donut bakery. With so many different flavours to choose from, donuts can be ordered online and delivered to your door the very same day they are baked.

And this year's winner is…

Sarah Ali Choudhury, Gourmet Indian Catering - After establishing herself as one of the youngest Asian females to manage an Indian restaurant, Sarah is an experienced chef who has built a reputation for delivering simple yet delicious Indian recipes. She is now founder of Gourmet Indian Cuisine, an event catering service.

A huge congratulations to our winner and our finalists. Thank you to the public for their many nominations, and to our well-respected judges who picked our worthy winner of the 'Entrepreneur of the Year Award', sponsored by The Dorset Growth Hub.
