Winner: Winfrith Village Stores, Winfrith Newburgh

There were accolades from customers far and wide about this reinvigorated store which has become the heartbeat of the village. Taken over two years ago by Pascal Surret and his partner Marc Watton, our readers praised them for the wide range of locally sourced produce and delicious homemade quiches, tarts, cakes and pastries made by Marc. ‘’This wonderful shop is the life and soul of our village,’ said one regular shopper. ‘It has everything a good community shop should have: local produce, helpful staff and owners who really care about their village and the people in it’

Highly Commended: Symondsbury Store, Symondsbury

Situated in the beautifully restored Manor Yard, the Symondsbury Store is a cross between a farm shop and a convenience store. According to our readers, there is an interesting range of locally sourced foods, superbly displayed and presented. This includes organically-grown vegetables from Symondsbury Estate’s own garden and Symondsbury’s own lamb reared on the Estate.

Highly Commended: The Fridge, Dorchester

This deli in the Tudor Arcade was started 20 years ago by Wayne Garnett, and over the last two decades he and his team have built a loyal customer base that love the fine food and hampers this Dorchester deli offers. According to our readers Wayne and his friendly staff are always helpful and smiling and are very knowledgeable about the amazing range of local and regional foods they carry.
