Winner: Soulshine Café, Bridport

Soulshine is a family-friendly cafe in the heart of Bridport and readers said they really loved its great family–friendly ambience, wholesome and healthy local food and welcoming staff. Children loved the freshly made smoothies and their parents enjoyed tucking into delicious cakes and great coffee. There is a dedicated kids’ area, complete with colouring and other activities to keep young minds busy.

Highly Commended: Tamburino Gold, Sherborne

The Italians are renowned for embracing the concept of family dining and giving younger diners a warm welcome, and that is certainly true of Tamburino Gold in Sherborne. Readers loved the welcoming family vibe and the friendly staff of this family run Italian restaurant. ‘They are very good with kids’ said one reader, who commented on the fact that the children’s menu featured authentic pasta and pizza dishes.

Highly Commended: The Village Inn, Swanage

This bar and restaurant, which is adjacent to the Ulwell Cottage Caravan and Campsite, has plenty of experience when it comes to giving families a warm welcome. Their family room overlooking the pool and outdoor play area is ideal when younger customers want to run around while mum and dad enjoy a coffee after lunch.
