Dorset Weddings

Dorset can boast some magnificent wedding locations in such picturesque settings that there can surely be no better county in which to tie the knot.

This edition of Dorset Weddings is here to help make your special day just that little bit more special, with interesting information on many aspects of a wedding, from that all-important bride’s dress through to the entertainment at the reception.

But let’s kick off with the venue…Wedding venues get booked up early, so start hunting for your ideal venue as soon as you have named the day.

If you marry in church and have the reception elsewhere, limit the distance between the two as far as possible. If it’s more than 30 minutes, then lay on some sort of communal transport to ensure you don’t lose the guests in between, or if this isn’t feasible, provide a map for those who don’t know their way.

Many Dorset hotels and country houses are now licensed for civil ceremonies, and the beauty of this is that everything you need is already there including, in most cases, the catering. Depending on your budget and the size of the venue, you may want to hire a function room for the day and evening or even hire the whole hotel for 24 hours and invite close family and friends to spend the night there.
