A warm welcome to the Dorset magazine website.
Dorset magazine is a top-quality, upmarket, lifestyle title which highlights, amongst other things, the county’s stunning scenery, its history, excellent local food and the interesting people who live in the county.
You’ll also find extensive coverage of the county’s arts and culture, regular photo essays on the county’s wildlife, landscape and villages, and a section that flags up some of Dorset’s more exclusive properties. Regular profiles of Dorset’s towns focus on shops and businesses that serve their communities, and there are also profiles of the many fine pubs and restaurants that are to be found throughout the county.
As Editor of this magazine, I’m in the very lucky position of meeting or reading about lots of different folk, and for me it is one of the joys of the job.
Sometimes I can be out at a function taking pictures for our Social Diary pages and become so engrossed in conversation that I almost forget why I’m meant to be there. At other times, having been out interviewing somebody I have gone home and spent the entire evening telling my husband all about how interesting my meeting with them has been.
In our September issue we meet many such stimulating people: the new Chief Executive of Dorset Wildlife Trust, a piano teacher, the National Trust’s new Visitor Services Manager for its West Dorset estate, some people who give us their views on Wareham, a Dorset artist, our Dorset Home owners, our Local Hero… the list goes on. And because I’ve been sent lots of stories on people who have moved to Dorset and how that move has triggered a whole new career or hobby for them, we’re going to tell you all about them as well in a series we’re starting called ‘New Directions’. I think you’ll find it very inspiring.
