Dorset Social Luncheon
The Publisher and staff at Dorset magazine recently held their Spring Luncheon at The Eastbury Hotel, in Sherborne. Forty guests were treated to a drinks reception in the lovely sunny gardens of The Eastbury, followed by a delicious lunch created by Chef Brett Sutton, which was served in the conservatory.

Yachtsman’s Triumphant Return
Steve White made a triumphant return to his home port of Weymouth aboard Toe in the Water, which he sailed to 8th place in the Vendée Globe, the prestigious solo round-the-world yacht race. The Royal Dorset Yacht Club hosted a lively reception for Steve and his many friends, including sailing legend Sir Robin Knox-Johnston and fellow Vendée Globe finishers Dee Caffari
and Brian Thompson. Sir Robin Knox-Johnston saluted Steve’s success, noting that more people have been into space than have sailed solo around the world!

Moonfleet Lunch
The management of Moonfleet Manor Hotel invited guests to a ‘Loved Up Lunch’ with a masterclass from Head Chef Tony Smith. Guests enjoyed a fabulous lunch and were entertained by Tony as he demonstrated how to make a tear drop chocolate dessert.

‘A Salute to the British Soldier’ Concert Receptio
A reception for more than 50 people was hosted by Canon Eric Woods and his, wife Sandra, at The Vicarage, Sherborne, prior to the ‘A Salute to the British Soldier’ concert in Sherborne Abbey, a concert in aid of The Army Benevolent Fund, supported by the Countryside Alliance Foundation.
Reception guests included newscaster Martyn Lewis, who introduced the concert and gave readings, Major Peter Norton, actress Angharad Rees, and Julian and Emma Kitchener-Fellowes, all of whom also gave readings, and Isla St Clair, who sang Scottish songs.

Kings Arms Opening
To launch their new pub – The Kings Arms, in Longham – Rod and Janette Lamont held a drinks and tapas evening for invited guests and suppliers. Rod and Janette also own the extremely popular Saxon Arms in Stratton and The Kings Arms in Stoborough.

Salon on the Square in Beaminster held a celebration to mark the opening of its new luxury beauty salon above the existing hairdressing salon. Guests were invited to look around whilst enjoying canapés and champagne.

Ocean Bathrooms, in Bridport, held a party to celebrate the company’s 15 years of trading. Guests enjoyed drinks and a buffet, and the a capella singing group Mezzo provided the entertainment. There was also a prize draw with a variety of prizes.
