Set on Dorset’s magnificent Jurassic Coast, Lyme Regis is a hugely popular holiday destination during the summer months, and rightly so with it pretty harbour, beach and interesting shops, galleries and museum. This lovely seaside town is a great destination to visit all year round, especially in the quieter months when there is still plenty going on. In February there is the Lyme Regis Literary Festival (9 – 15 February). There are also some great half term events for young fossil hunters at the nearby Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre and there are a wide range of fantastic local restaurants for a romantic Valentine’s Day meal.

If you want to get a proper feel for this historic town then stay for a few days. ‘Lymelight’ is a fabulous, new modern property in the centre of town; brimming with collected treasures, books and the owners display of artwork, it offers a stylish interior and bright open plan living. Sleeping up to 8 people there are four luxury bedrooms, two of which are en-suite and a further contemporary family bathroom. A three night short break costs from £562.

‘Fossilers Lodge’ is just a stone’s throw from the seafront. This four bedroom apartment, which sleeps 8, offers spacious accommodation with panelled walls, wood floors, traditional kitchen and cosy wood burner. For fossil fans it has the added bonus of being directly above a fossil shop! Three night short breaks from £525.

If you like the idea of a romantic hideaway then ‘Silver Street Cottage’ is a pint-sized cottage for two within easy walking distance of the town’s great shops and restaurants including Mark Hix’s superb Oyster and Fish House. Three night short breaks from £380.

Let’s book it!

All these properties and more are available to book through Toad Hall Cottages toadhallcottages.co.uk (01297 443550). Toad Hall Cottages offer over 600 beautiful coastal, rural and waterside cottages throughout the South West and have an office in Lyme Regis where holidaymakers or cottage owners looking to let out their properties, are always made to feel most welcome.
