Dippy on Tour – A Natural History Adventure

In association with the Natural History Museum and Dorset County Museum (the current home of Dippy the Diplodocus), The Etches Collection: Museum of Jurassic Marine Life at Kimmeridge will be hosting events and activities inspired by this famous dinosaur between March and May. Discover Dippy’s link to the Jurassic Seas off Kimmeridge, and see the bones of Dorset’s very own dinosaur giant the impressive sauropod. Other dino-themed activities include Fossil Workbooks, Excavation Pit, Jurassic Monster Checklist, Dino Colouring and a Jurassic Art Competition.

Good Friday Easter Egg Hunt - 30 March

Toy Barn at Blackmarsh Farm, Sherborne hosts this Easter Egg hunt where fancy dress is positively encouraged. There are climbing frames, swings, trampolines and Wendy houses in the orchard to enjoy and a prize for the best fancy dress.

In the Land of Oz Easter Egg Trail - 30 March -2 April

Follow the yellow brick road to Forde Abbey where you’ll find Dorothy on a magical adventure on this interactive trail around the gardens.


Easter Events at Brewery Square in Dorchester - 30 March – 2 April

The Brewery Square Easter Egg Hunt runs 10am - 4pm. Pick up a form from the Concierge Office, opposite the Dorchester South Train Station, hunt for the eggs hidden around Brewery Square and return the form for a free Easter prize. On 31 March popular children’s entertainer Andy Day performs his dinosaur-themed rap show at midday & 2pm. 


Easter Bonnet Parade - 1 April

Lyme Regis hosts this traditional bonnet parade. 2pm: Judging of Easter Bonnets in Baptist Church. 3pm Parade from Broad Street.


Easter Monday at Larmer Tree Gardens - 2 April

The White Rabbit, Felicity the Fox and Mrs Greenfingers are having a competition to see who can make the most wonderful Easter bonnet and win the village prize. But cheeky Felicity has hidden all the ribbons and Rabbit is distracted by the tasty carrots in the veg patch. Find all the answers that have been hidden around the gardens to win a prize. Dress to impress with your own Easter bonnet.  Three sessions: 11am, 1pm & 3pm. Chocolate prizes presented to each child. Book online at larmertree.co.uk.


Mad Science Easter Holiday Camp - 3–12 April

Awesome hands-on Easter holiday camp for 5-11 year olds at Knighton House, Blandford (3 – 6 April) and Trinity First School in Verwood.

(9 – 12 April). Topics include supersonic senses and earthquake and eruptions. 10am – 3pm.

Studland Bay - 30 March – 15 April - Follow the trail around the nature reserve and see the world through a bunny’s eyes. Runs 10.30am – 3.30pm.

Kingston Lacy Easter Egg Hunt - 30 March – 15 April - How many eggs can you spot on this 1.5 mile woodland walk, Runs 10am – 4pm.

Golden Cap Easter Egg Hunt - 30–31 March - Hop along to Stonebarrow Hill for this self-led egg hunt from Stonebarrow shop, 11am – 3pm.
