Famous for its striking Jurassic coastline and golden beaches, Dorset is a great UK holiday destination. Many visitors choose to make the most of the area by choosing from a selection of great holiday cottages to enjoy their stay.

Start your visit with the short but mildly taxing walk from Lulworth Cove to Durdle Door, the best way to appreciate the beauty of this dramatic coastline. Fantastically fresh seafood is always on offer and the area is home to a number of famous chefs such as Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall who make the most of the local produce.
Dorset is also fantastic for adrenaline junkies. Poole attracts windsurfers and kitesurfers by the boat load and there are many companies offering taster sessions for the more adventurous. From Poole travel to Sandbanks and take the chain ferry across to the unspoilt beach of Studland. Make sure you check out some of the houses on the Sandbanks peninsula, the fourth most expensive place to call home in the world.
Dorset isnt just stunning beaches; theres plenty to do if you venture a little further in land. Corfe Castle cuts an imposing figure and visitors of all ages will love to explore its ruins. On the Devon border you will find Lyme Regis, a picturesque seaside town with winding streets with shops selling pictures by local artists. Jane Austen fans will also recognise the town from several of her books.
Whichever part of the county you choose to make your holiday home, you will be ideally located for the regions stunning beaches and lovely market towns. A self-catering break allows you to explore the area at your leisure but is a flexible choice for travelling with the family.
